Parent-Volunteer Information

As stated in the Registration Agreement, all families are expected to volunteer during every swim meet. In order for our team to continue having swim meets (both home and away) we need parent volunteers to help time, record, set up, and run our swim meets. With that being said, in order to complete the registration process, you must sign up to volunteer for 6 swim meet shifts and a $120.00 volunteer deposit will be added to your fees.

**For each shift completed, your family will receive $20 back. Families who complete all 6 shifts will receive the full $120 refund. Families who do not complete their shifts may forfeit some or all of their volunteer deposit. Any unpaid balance will be used to cover the cost of volunteers who fill those open positions.

We MUST have parents/family members of ALL registered swimmers volunteer in some capacity at our swim meets. In order to complete the registration process, you must sign up to volunteer as a CBD Board Member, Appointed Meet Position, OR for 6 swim meet shifts (6 points)

One (1) Board Member/Appointed position open: Director at Large

If you are interested in the position of "Director at Large", please reach out to CBD President, Sarah Howard or Vice President, Sylvia Navarro for more information.

A point system has been established to better track the Parent-Volunteer Accountability. If each family is required to sign up for & complete 6 swim meet shifts, this would be equivilent to 6 points per family. One (1) shift (1st or 2nd half of the meet) will be equivilent to 1 point; volunteers who stay for both shifts or the entire meet would be equivilent to 2 points. This point system will reflect on the Registration Form and CBD Administrators will track all parents who fulfill their volunteer requirements.

The following volunteer spots will be availble to fill during registration:

  • Timer (1 point): Time the swimmers in the events; we will need approximately 8 timers for each half of the meet (16 volunteers total)
  • Recorder (1 point): Write down the time for the swimmer on a lane slip (Timer's stopwatches & Race Board); we will need approximately 4 recorders for each half of the meet (8 volunteers total)
  • Snack Bar (1 point): Help Sell and prepare items at the snack bar (approximately 3-4 volunteers needed)
  • Hospitality (1-2 points): Help prepare and pass out snack items and beverages for volunteer timers, recorders, coaches, and computer staff ( approximately 1-2 volunteers needed)
  • Ribbons (1 point): Put labels on award ribbons and organize by team (approximately 1-2 volunteers needed)
  • Stroke and Turn (2 points): Watch to make sure swimmers are doing stroke legally (1-2 volunteers needed - if you would like to learn this specific position, we can teach you!)

Two (2) Meet Shifts will be available

  • Shift 1: all events before the Girls 100 IM (Events #1 - #38)
  • Shift 2: all remaining events following the Girls 100 IM (Events #39 - #76).

We are asking that you commit to three home shifts and three away shifts so that ALL parents have the opportunity to watch their children swim in some capacity.  Please look at our meet schedule on our website to check dates and times of meets.

**ALL parents will need to volunteer for the Intersquad Meet since as this meet will only be for Corcoran Blue Dolphins. This meet is how we train you on the timing, scribing/recording, and all that is done at other meets**
